Please note that the old unit that you return has to be suitable for re-manufacture to receive the surcharge refund. We are very skilled at the process of remanufacturing these products but they have some complications and are very high risk of surcharge rejection. Please note rejected units that are not accepted for surcharge will be kept for parts and recycled as they have to be stripped to acceess suitability and we will not rebuild a product that is not accepted.
Electric Steering Racks (EPS) (13)
Electric steering racks are becoming increasingly more important. This is due to the needs of modern engines and control systems that are more automated and electronically managed. Electric power steering eliminates the need for Hydraulic Power steering components such as the Steering pump, auxiliary hoses, and hydraulic fluid. This means that the EPS steering system as a whole is lighter and requires less space and Energy than its hydraulic counterpart.
How it Works
The EPS electronic control unit (ECU) calculates the assisting power needed based on the torque being applied to the steering wheel by the driver, the steering wheel position and the vehicle’s speed. The EPS motor rotates a steering gear with an applied force that reduces the torque required from the driver thus creating a powered steering system.
